THE KIND OF GHOSTS IN INDONESIA

In Indonesia, there are many kind of ghosts. They have own characters. Some of famous ghosts in Indonesia are as follows :

 

1. Kuntilanak

Kuntilanak is one of the famous ghost who is from a dying pregnant woman. When she appears to us, we often smell the odor of Frangipani. Kuntilanak is figured like a vampire. It's different than from Malay's tradition that Kuntilanak doesn't have a hole on her back and just disturb people, not to suck people's blood like a vampire. Based on Java's believing, Kuntilanak doesn't disturb a pregnant woman if she always bring a knife, scissors, and nail everytime.

2. Pocong

The second one is Pocong. Pocong is the ghost who is covered by a shroud. People believe that Pocong is such a protest form  from a dying peson that forget to be opened her/his tying shroud before he/she is being graved. Although often we see that they always jumping if they're walking. But, based on Myth, Pocong moves by flying.

3. Genderuwo

Genderuwo is a ghost that's like an ape, but he's big and tall. Usually, Genderuwo stays in the Banyan or the other big trees.
